About Me
Hi! I’m GP (short for George Philip, my two grandfathers’ names) and I’m glad you’re here! Here’s a bit about me:
I’m the founder and CEO of didametic, an educational consulting firm that helps students get into college, schools develop outcome-driven classes and programs, and organizations expand their reach.
Most recently, I helped build Polygence.org, an online mentorship platform that helps students turn their passions into tangible and rewarding research projects with the help of PhD-level experts. I joined in 2021 as the Head of Partnerships, building a lean, mean B2B sales org from scratch. I grew this channel 5.6x in 2 years before becoming Head of Strategic Initiatives, where I led our internal education and policy research, fed evidence-based pedagogy into our product development, and served as Director of the non-profit scholarship program.
I hold a Ph.D. from Stanford in the History of Art & Architecture with a dissertation on an 1869 photography survey of the Arctic. I studied the role of museums in civil society on a Fulbright Grant in Switzerland. And I served for two years as the Research Program Manager at the Center for Spatial and Textual Analysis (CESTA), the Digital Humanities lab at Stanford University. My academic work includes publications on art history, photography, and climate change. I make exhibitions like this, teach classes like this, and write things like this, this and this.
I’m a native Mainer and now part of an 8th generation California family. In my spare time, I love cycling, hiking and large format photography. With my college a cappella days behind me, I’m in a Disney hits cover band with my two daughters.
